We’ve all played “Is this still OK?” in front of the fridge.
Red Flags (Toss It)
- Sharp sour or rancid smell
- Slimy or sticky surface on meats
- Unnatural color changes (greenish meats, darkened fish)
- Visible mold on soft foods
Yellow Flags (Use Judgment)
- Cheese rinds getting firmer? Trim and carry on.
- Separated natural peanut butter? Stir it; it’s fine.
- Crystals on ice cream? Safe, but quality took a snow day.
